Tuesday Tutorial

It seems as though yesterday’s post didn’t post so I will try again.   Today I am showing you how to create a multi-colored look on a stamp.

Stamp n write marker (Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Soft Suede)

Cheerful Tags Framelits

Perfect Mix Stamp Set

To begin making these cute labels I cut out them out using the big shot.  These labels are so much fun!!

My first step was to cut out the tags. I was able to get three from one sheet of paper 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″.  I absolutely love this framelit as it cuts the perfect hole for you at the same time so they line up.  Fold the top down so it forms a tag.

Next I used the fun baking stamp set, Perfect Mix.    I stamped in Basic Grey Ink.  Then I used my markers and colored the open images. I use the large brush end as this end is good for coloring whereas the small point is great for writing.

Next is the fun part where I created a multi colored saying.   I start in the middle as it’s easiest for me.  Taking the edge of the marker I run it across the stamp. Do not use the tip for this step, it will ruin your markers.    If you get any on the other parts and the other marker is darker it is ok.  However if the marker is going to be lighter then you want to use a wet wipe and clean it off.  Next I continue with the next color I am looking to use and repeat the same step. It doesn’t take a lot of ink so don’t press down to hard.  Continue to you finish coloring the entire stamp.

Now here is the trick…..

Take a deep breath and then huff it onto the stamp.  This moistens the ink again.  Then place on your label and stamp.    If your unsure about placement you could use your stamp-a-majig to line it up (directions in last weeks blog post).

Add a piece of string and you have a beautiful label to gift some goodies to your friends.
